League Structure

The Greater Eastside Junior Football Association (GEJFA) was formed in 1963 to provide contact football in a program that respects the GEJFA philosophy. GEJFA serves youth between the ages of 8 and 14. There are five levels of play based on an age/weight formula to ensure that players compete against players of like size and age. These levels are Rookie, Cub, Sophomore, Junior Varsity, and Varsity.

There are 19 independent franchised clubs that comprise GEJFA, representing the youth of Bellevue, Mercer Island, Kirkland, Redmond, Sammamish, Kenmore, Bothell, Woodinville, Duvall, Carnation, Snoqualmie, North Bend, Issaquah, East Renton, Newcastle, and Bainbridge Island. Each club has geographical boundaries, which in most cases, are the same or similar to the local high school.

Each club is managed independently of the others and has its own registrations, acquires and issues its own equipment, and has a home field. However, as a member of GEJFA, each club is managed in accordance with GEJFA rules. Each club has representation on the GEJFA Council, thus input in how the larger organization functions.
